Iran short films to vie in US

A pair of Iranian short films is to vie at the Athens International Film and Video Festival in the US.

Kaveh Mazaheri's 'Retouch' and 'Animal' by Ark brothers are among the films to be screened at the American festival.

Produced by the Iranian Young Cinema Society, ‘Retouch’ is about a young woman whose husband dies before her eyes and she just observes the tragic scene.

‘Animal’ depicts the story of a man who wants to pass the border illegally. To that end, he hunts a ram and decides to escape disguised as the animal.

Founded in 1974, the AIFVF has continuously maintained a vision and identity that celebrates avant-garde, independent, alternative, and world media, in all genres and formats.

Located in rural southeast Ohio, it takes advantage of the beautiful location to sponsor outdoor screenings and media events.

It is a champion of justice and provides a voice for underrepresented artists and viewpoints on a global level.

The 44th edition of the event is slated to be launched on April 9-15, 2018.
